Nexen Micro Credit Simpler, Faster, Friendlier

Nexen is a microfinance social enterprise providing affordable working capital loans and financial literacy training to Uganda’s micro and small businesses, most of which are led (run) by women specifically focusing on fast-moving consumer goods. Since its founding in 2016, Nexen has provided working capital loans to over 2,000 small businesses in Uganda, supporting the livelihoods of over 10,000 people.

While the majority of our clients are food and Fast-moving consumer goods businesses, we have had the opportunity to finance a few small clinics and pharmacies, that have exposed us to the challenges in Uganda’s healthcare system. This has led us to a decision to launch and pilot a medical credit fund to address the financing challenges faced by healthcare businesses in Uganda.
