Startup Uganda is the association of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Support Organisations working to strengthen the sector, build a culture of collaboration, and create the conditions where entrepreneurs can start, grow, and scale.

Six things we exist to do.
Increase investment in and through ESOs.
We work to grow the financial and institutional resources available to our member organisations and the entrepreneurs they serve.
Strengthen ESOs and the sector.
Through training, knowledge exchange, and direct capacity-building, we make our members stronger organisations.
Engage government.
We represent the ESO sector in policy conversations at the highest level, from the Ministry of Trade and Industry to the Uganda Registration Services Bureau.
Represent diversity across Uganda.
Our membership reflects the breadth of the ecosystem: urban and upcountry, tech and creative, incubators and accelerators, youth-focused and women-led.
Build collaboration.
We create the infrastructure for members to work together, not in parallel. Shared knowledge, shared programmes, shared impact.
Drive research and knowledge.
We document the ecosystem, track what works, and make that knowledge available to members, partners, and policymakers.

Our member ESOs are incubators, accelerators, co-working spaces, training programmes, and sector-specific support organisations working across Uganda. Each one has been verified as a registered legal entity, operational for at least one year, with a physical workspace and a demonstrated focus on innovation, technology, creativity, or entrepreneurship.

In July 2026, Startup Uganda brought the conversation about Uganda's digital economy to NBS TV's Breakfast Meeting, alongside Enabel Uganda, the Response Innovation Lab, and The Innovation Village. The same month, we presented at the National Startup Policy Roundtable at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, with members of the Uganda Registration Services Bureau and Ministry of Finance in the room.

Our current five-year programme (2026–2030) is funded by Enabel (the Belgian Development Agency), the European Union, and Belgium as part of the WeWork: Green and Decent Jobs for Youth initiative.
